CLIENT SUCCESS STORIES

Estate Planning
An elderly woman came to our law office having learned that she did not have access to her life savings because another attorney had prepared estate planning documents for her family that were not customized to meet her family's needs. Despite her and her deceased husband's intent, her children were set to inherit all of the money intended for the wife and they were unwilling to take care of her needs. Through some complicated planning consistent with the estate documents, we were able to help our client legitimately transfer monies a bit at a time until she was able to gain control of the monies as she and her husband had intended.
Settlements
We represented a senior citizen who owed over $40,000 in legitimate debt. We were able to negotiate a settlement where he paid only 1/4 of the debt.
Criminal Case
Several attorneys informed our office and my client that he should expect to see bail set at $20,000. We were able to establish a $2,000 bail.
Settlements
We regularly help clients amicably settle their disputes - whether it be divorces, contract disputes, landlord/tenant disputes, or other legal fights. Drew is a trained mediator and makes consistent efforts to keep clients out of the courtroom whenever a settlement would be better than litigating the matter through trial.
Criminal Case
Eight felony counts of criminal racketeering were resolved by making restoration payments and a small fine to the victim reparation fund and community service. The judge told our client that usually she just locks people up when they are guilty of racketeering and told our client that we did a great job for him - but that he better not slip up on his probation or she would throw him in jail. We helped make sure that our client successfully completed probation.
Tax Case
A dispute with the Utah State Tax Commission ended amicably. $21,000 in fines were reduced to $1,000 payable in monthly installments over a year with zero interest.
Litigation
Our law firm took over a published case that has been in litigation for several years. Judgment was awarded against this new client before our firm took over the case. Recently, our firm's successful defense against multiple post-judgment motions saved clients from being liable for close to $4 Million in additional damages.
Litigation - My Lai Case
The UNITED STATES SUPREME COURT denied certiorari (refused to hear the appeal) and we were able to collect remaining attorney's fees awarded to our client.
Collections
We successfully collected debt on multiple cases where the statute of limitations had arguably run against our client.
Incorporation
Successful incorporation of an extremely rare non-profit corporation established under volatile federal revenue rules (501d).
Litigation - My Lai Case
The 10th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled in our client's favor by upholding the dismissal of our client in the lower court.
THE OPINION IS PUBLISHED in the federal reporter with the following citation: 364 F3d 1196, 10th Cir. (Utah), Apr. 16, 2004.
The case generated national attention and was reported by ABC News and the largest newspaper in Utah state.
Our client was also awarded attorney fees and costs for successfully defending the appeal.
Collections
Successful collections ($28,000) against two dissoluted corporations for one out of state client.
Collections
Successful collection, amicably resolved, generated another large contract for our client.
Settlement
Successful negotiation on our client's behalf saved them nearly $250,000 in legitimate losses.  This reflected a savings of nearly 50%.
Litigation - My Lai Case
The 10th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled in our client's favor by denying opposing counsel's motion to consolidate cases; this saved our client thousands of dollars in attorney's fees.
Litigation - My Lai Case:
Based on Chambers, a rarely used federal case, the Chief Justice of the United States District Court of Utah granted our firm's motion for attorneys fees.
Litigation - My Lai Case
Successful DEFENSE against a $25,000,000,000 (yes, that's Billion) international TORT claim.
The Chief Justice of the United States District Court of Utah, 10th Circuit, granted a motion to dismiss the lawsuit.
